Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov said that it will be possible to learn to be a civilian drone operator in vocational schools of Ukraine.

A new training program, "Civil drone operator", will be introduced in vocational schools

According to Mykhailo Fedorov, the new program will be introduced in seven educational institutions in Lviv, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Sumy and Chernihiv regions.

Thanks to the support of the EU, drones were purchased for practical training, and teachers were trained, who will now be able to teach students of this program. There are plans to expand the network of vocational schools further and to approve an educational standard that will enable full training of students in this profession.

The official emphasised that it is crucial for Ukraine today to be able to control civilian unmanned aerial vehicles.

These drones are used during sowing, in rescue operations, demining, they help assess damage from combat operations, and journalists use them to document the war, Fedorov explained.

The minister added that vocational education reform is ongoing, and recently, more than 200 institutions have submitted applications to update their workshops and create quality conditions for training specialists.

Thousands of long-range drones will be created in Ukraine

According to Mykhailo Fedorov, these drones can strike enemy targets deep inside the aggressor country.

Moreover, about ten companies in Ukraine manufacture drones that can reach Moscow and St. Petersburg.

The category of long-range kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicles is growing with a flight radius of 300, 500, 700 and 1000 kilometers. Two years ago, this category did not exist... at all, noted Mykhailo Fedorov.

The Minister of Digital Transformation notes that the recent series of attacks on oil refineries in Russia is a reflection of Ukraine's success in rapidly deregulating the drone market and increasing funding for it.
