Ukrainian ambassador: Weapons meant for Ukraine sent to Israel instead

Israel

The war between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip has affected Western countries' military assistance to Ukraine. It also damages the perception of the Russian-Ukrainian war.

Israel receives weapons that were supposed to be sent to Ukraine

This opinion was expressed by Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey Vasyl Bodnar in an interview with Turkish media.

The international media have paid attention to this area (the war between Israel and Hamas — ed.), so there are those who believe that the war in Ukraine is over, the diplomat said.

The ambassador noted that the weapons to be transferred to Ukraine are sent to Israel. And the factor that influences assistance to Ukraine is the internal political dynamics in Western countries.

He cited the upcoming US presidential election, the position of the governments of Hungary and Slovakia, and the blocking of Ukrainian trucks at the Polish border by farmers as examples of this dynamic.

In addition, according to the ambassador, Russia believes that it is at war with the West and NATO, not Ukraine. Stressing that Kyiv is aware of the existence of various ideas in Western countries regarding assistance to Ukraine, Bodnar noted that this is the reason why Ukraine has begun to increase its weapons production capacity.

The Hamas-Israel war is in the spotlight: what you need to know

Hamas militants invaded Israel on 7 October, killing people, taking hostages and seizing territory. It was reported that more than a thousand people were killed in the attack, and hundreds of people were taken hostage. Israeli security forces cleared their territory of militants, after which the Israeli authorities decided to conduct a ground operation in the Gaza Strip.

The US is helping Israel fight Hamas. Bloomberg wrote that the United States is secretly sending more rockets and ammunition to Israel.
