Does really Putin want to end the war with Ukraine as soon as possible — DIU explains

Vladimir Putin

According to representatives of Ukrainian intelligence, the Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin would like to end the war against Ukraine as soon as possible. Still, it must end exclusively on Ukraine's terms.

What is known about the Kremlin's desire to end the war as soon as possible

According to a Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) representative, Andriy Yusov, the war must be ended by the requirements of international law and exclusively on Ukraine's terms.

The day before, the journalists of the American publication The New York Times published material in which, concerning sources, it is noted that the war criminal and Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin is sending signals to the Western countries about his desire to end the war against Ukraine as soon as possible.

According to two former senior Russian officials close to the Kremlin and US and international officials, Putin is proposing to freeze hostilities along the current lines.

Putin also sent the same signals a year earlier — in the 2022 fall.

He is really ready to stop at the current positions. He does not want to retreat even a meter, ex top Russian official claims.

How does the DIU respond to this information?

Yusov noted that the Kremlin wants a quick end to the war, but Ukraine agrees to it only on its terms.

Of course, they would like to end the invasion as soon as possible. Another matter is under what conditions. From the point of view of Ukrainian interest and international law: Russia is a criminal and must be punished. Ukraine, of course, is interested in the end of this genocidal war, but with the restoration of our territorial integrity and the punishment of criminals, the DIU representative emphasized.

According to him, such publications in the Western mass media should be carefully analyzed.

But at the same time, such materials demonstrate that the West has not forgotten about Ukraine.

Such materials are even good, because it denies that the world has forgotten about Ukraine. We now see a number of materials devoted to Ukraine on the front pages of leading publications. These are often debatable materials and we have to take our proactive position, Yusov stressed.
