The Prime Minister of German Saxony, Michael Kretschmer, called on Ukraine to "come to terms with temporary territorial concessions" and believes that Germany should change its policy towards Russia.
Kretschmer offers Ukraine to give up the territories temporarily
Kretschmer sharply criticized the course of the federal government towards Ukraine. The politician called for diplomatic initiatives to influence Vladimir Putin.
He offers the Ukrainian government to hand over the territory in exchange for a temporary ceasefire.
When asked whether Ukraine should cede territory to end the war, he at the same time emphasized that the principle should apply: "Not a single square meter of Ukrainian territory — not even Crimea — has become Russian," but "as in other major wars, the time has come for a final solution ".
According to Kretschmer, the federal government of Germany should not only supply weapons to Ukraine but also take diplomatic initiatives.
He added that the allies must "influence Russian President Vladimir Putin and make a ceasefire possible."
He also spoke in favour of a "turnaround" in Germany's policy towards Russia.
Ukrainian MFA responded to Kretschmer's statements
The MFA spokesman, Oleg Nikolenko, reacted to the words of the German official, saying that if Ukraine accepts the temporary loss of territories, Russian troops will become closer to Germany and Saxony in particular.
Nikolenko stressed that territorial concessions will certainly lead to greater Russian aggression, which will undoubtedly extend beyond the borders of Ukraine.
