Ukrainian PM to meet with Slovakian counterpart on January 24

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal will meet with the head of the government of Slovakia Robert Fico on Wednesday, January 24. The meeting will be held in Uzhgorod.

In Slovakia, the date of the meeting between Shmyhal and Fico was announced

Fico announced the meeting during a speech when he talked about the work program for the coming week.

According to him, he will come to Ukraine with humanitarian aid and declare that Slovakia will not help Ukraine militarily.

Fico claims that the meeting "will be interesting". He stated that the Ukrainian side refused the joint press conference.

Earlier this week the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal announced a meeting with Fico. According to him, on the eve of the EU summit, the parties will discuss possible obstacles to the allocation of 50 billion euros from the European Union to Ukraine.

What preceded it

Earlier, the European Commission proposed to allocate 50 billion euros to Ukraine for 2024-2027.

The leaders of the EU countries considered this initiative at the summit on December 14-15. But Hungary vetoed the decision.

The issue of aid to Ukraine will be discussed at the EU summit on February 1. But Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban says he will block the issue.
