The Russian-Ukrainian war in 2024 can develop according to two scenarios. Ukrainian MP, secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Security, Defence and Intelligence, SSU colonel Roman Kostenko has shared this forecast.
What could be the war between Russia and Ukraine in 2024
Roman Kostenko once again drew attention to the fact that final decisions will be made exclusively during the Staff of the Supreme Commander.
According to him, events can really develop in different ways, but there is something that Ukraine must do.
Whatever strategy is chosen - either to stand on the defensive or to actively advance - we need to do only one thing. On the territory under control, build your own lines of Syrskyi, Tarnavskyi, and Zaluzhnyi. These lines should be built in every region, said the SBU colonel.
He also assured that currently the main task of the Armed Forces will be to prevent the enemy from entering the country.
If this can be done, then it will be possible to start thinking about a new counteroffensive.
What strategy is better to choose for the army of Ukraine
According to the expert, the positional war on the battlefield has been going on since the liberation of Kherson, since after that the front line de facto froze.
Taking into account the latest events, the Armed Forces can choose one of the following strategies:
vacate territories;
to destroy the forces and means of the enemy.
According to Roman Kostenko, he is inclined to the second option.
Such a strategy seems more realistic. By destroying the enemy without being tied to the territory, as well as economically - with sanctions, we can force Russia to leave our territories, - explained the SBU colonel.
What is important to understand is that earlier NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also explained that military achievements can be measured not only by square kilometers, but also by losses inflicted on the enemy.
