Ukrgazvydobuvannya launched two new gas producing wells

Gas producing well

Ukrgasvydobuvannya, a part of the Naftogaz Group, has commissioned two high-performance wells that produce about 200,000 cubic metres of gas per day.

"Ukrgazvydobuvannya" launched two new wells

Both wells were drilled in the same field: a lateral shaft was drilled on one of them, the second was put into operation after drilling.

The first well was drilled back in 1975, but eventually was transferred to an inactive well stock due to technical difficulties. In order to rehabilitate this highly productive well, it was decided to drill a sidetrack and then perform several stages of hydraulic fracturing. This approach proved to be successful, providing the country with an additional 100,000 cubic metres of natural gas, said Oleh Tolmachov, the Acting CEO of Ukrgasvydobuvannya.

The second appraisal well also produces over 100,000 cubic metres of gas.

Both wells were drilled by a branch of the Ukrburgaz, the company said in a statement.

It is also noted that over the past year and a half, despite the martial law and related difficulties, 15 new production wells have already been added to the existing stock, and several more are currently being drilled and tested. This year, for the first time in more than 10 years, the field will return to annual production of more than 1 bcm, the company added.
