The Minister of Defence of Ukraine Rustem Umerov introduced Colonel Serhiy Lupanchuk, Commander of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, to the staff.
Serhiy Lupanchuk to be a SOF new commander
As the press service of the Ministry of Defense reported, together with the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Valery Zaluzhnyy, they handed over the battle flag of the SOF of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to Colonel Lupanchuk.
What is known about Serhiy Lupanchuk
On 3 November, it became known that Volodymyr Zelenskyy had dismissed Viktor Khorenko from the post of commander of the Special Operations Forces by decree. It also became known that by another law, the Ukrainian leader appointed a new commander of the Special Operations Forces. Colonel Serhiy Lupanchuk is the new commander of Ukraine's Armed Forces.
Khorenko himself stated that he had learnt about his dismissal from the media. He also noted that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, told him that he had not sent the President a resignation letter.
In a comment to the media, the deputy head of the Presidential Office, Roman Mashovets, said that the relevant request for his dismissal had come from the Minister of Defence.
