In Germany, for more than a year, unknown drones have been recorded over training grounds and barracks of the Bundeswehr, where, in particular, Ukrainian military personnel are trained.

What was discovered above the training ground where the Ukrainian military trains

As Markus Faber, a member of the Bundestag from the Free Democratic Party and a member of the defence committee, said, drones are regularly spotted over the Klitz military training ground, where the Bundeswehr trains Ukrainians on Leopard 1 tanks. At other bases, several drones sometimes rise into the air simultaneously.

According to him, sometimes the flights of several drones are recorded. Faber emphasized that this "clearly points to Russia."

The Bundeswehr also suspects that Moscow is behind the drone attacks but cannot prove it.

The German Ministry of Defense said that none of the drones were shot down.

State Secretary of the German Ministry of Defense Nils Hilmer explained that first, it is necessary to discuss with the Ministry of Internal Affairs who and what can be done to protect against drones. Investigating which protective devices are effective and how quickly they can be purchased is necessary.

There is a huge backlog when it comes to drones. One thing is clear: our army needs modern jammers. We need the results of the work of the working group in the next few months, Faber emphasised.

Aid to Ukraine from Germany

Germany has become one of the countries that help Ukraine, providing military, political and financial support. Berlin offered several types of artillery, Leopard tanks of older and new modifications, IRIS-T and Patriot air defence systems, ammunition, vehicles, drones and other weapons.

Earlier, Germany announced it would double military aid to Ukraine in 2024 to 8 billion euros.

Recently, Germany updated the list of military aid provided to Ukraine. Berlin handed Kyiv additional SPAAG Gepard.
