What is the situation near Bakhmut

On 20 December, the geo-location data released that Ukrainian forces have made some progress southeast of Bakhmut.

On 28 December, Russian troops advanced near Maryinka and continued positional fighting with Ukrainian troops.

Russian forces also made minor advances northwest of Avdiivka and continued positional fighting with Ukrainian forces on 28 December. Geo-location data indicates that Russian forces made some progress in the area of the Avdiivka Coke and Chemical Plant in the Donetsk region.

What will depend on the advance of the Ukrainian military in the Bakhmut area

Roman Svitan, a reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, military expert and pilot instructor, told Channel 24 that in two days, Russian war criminals managed to advance towards Bohdanivka and Khromove, but the day before, the Ukrainian military managed to push them back to their previous positions.

According to Svitan, the Russian occupiers are now trying to advance towards Chasovyi Yar.

However, the village is located on the dominant height in the area, where Ukrainian artillery batteries have been stationed for more than a year, holding the Bakhmut line.

As soon as sufficient ammunition arrives there, the Ukrainian soldiers will immediately return to their positions. Right now, any advance by the Russians is only possible because we don't have enough ammunition. We don't know when we will have enough ammunition, Svitan explains.

He is convinced that if there is enough ammunition, the Russian war criminals will be pushed back.
