The US House of Representatives announced a break in work until the end of February and did not put to a vote the package project of the law, which includes funds to support Ukraine. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson made such a statement.

According to journalists, no vote will take place in the House of Representatives on February 16 — all of them have been canceled.

A full return to work is scheduled for February 28, which means that the long-awaited vote on the decision on funds for Ukraine has been postponed for at least two weeks.

The team of American leader Joe Biden has already expressed his displeasure on this matter. Thus, White House spokesman Andrew Bates criticised House Speaker Mike Johnson directly.

According to him, every day because of Speaker Johnson, the situation with US national security significantly worsens, and "America loses."

Instead of ceasing to politicise issues on which the security of the nation depends, Speaker Johnson (...) is sending the House into an early, undeserved recess and thereby escalating the murderous war effort of Russia and the Iranian regime at the expense of US national security, our jobs and our closest allies.

After that, Johnson began to complain that his request for a meeting with President Biden was not agreed to.

US Aid to Ukraine: Congress prepares other solutions

It remains to be seen whether enough Republicans in the House of Representatives will agree to support the bill after it passes the Senate.

However, it is important to understand that some of them are already publicly pressuring House Speaker Mike Johnson to approve the document.

Recently, journalists also learned that Congress is discussing at least two "plan Bs" to approve aid to Ukraine to bypass Johnson's opposition.
