US House Speaker Johnson may lose his post

Some representatives of the Republican Party are discussing the possibility of ousting Michael Johnson, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives.

Why Republicans are discussing removing Johnson as speaker

It is noted that some Republicans were outraged by Johnson's quick signing of the agreement with representatives of the Democratic Party, who called for significant cuts in state budget spending.

At least 10 representatives of the Republican Party publicly condemned the agreement to increase state budget expenditures in order to avoid the so-called "shutdown".

The conservative wing of the Republican Party, the conservative Freedom Caucus, called the deal a complete failure.

One of the main critics and opponents of the deal, Texas Republican Party representative Chip Roy, announced his intention to seek Johnson's resignation.

I am leaving this issue on the table. I am not going to say that I will submit it tomorrow night. I'm not saying I'm not going to file it tomorrow. I think the speaker should know that we are angry about this, Roy said.

Another Republican representative from Tennessee, Tim Burchett, said that a large number of Republican congressmen are discussing the possibility of Johnson's resignation.

Victoria Spartz, a Republican from Indiana, said in an interview with the newspaper that "people here and there" are seriously considering the speaker's resignation.

Ultimately, it depends on us, the MPs, whether we can "pull out the gun". And it's not even just about the speaker. We have to understand this and be strong. In the end, Mike (Johnson) has to show that he can win. He certainly inherited a difficult situation, so we will judge the result, Spartz said.

According to her, the Republicans should force the Democrats to start new negotiations on cutting the total amount of spending.

"I think that the Republicans really need to get serious and force the Democrats to the negotiating table, because inflation, increased spending and taxes will be devastating for our country," the politician stressed.

At the same time, South Carolina Republican Nancy Mace told reporters that she had not heard from her colleagues about the recall of Speaker Johnson. However, she did warn her fellow Republicans about the deal.

We're looking at $50 trillion in debt over the next 9 and a half years. So Republicans will be just as guilty as Democrats of record high spending that will continue to hurt our economy and hardworking middle-class families, Mace said.
