The US State Department introduced new sanctions against Russia. In particular, the “Wagner Group” and the Air Forces of the Russian Federation got under new restrictions.
New sanctions against Russia
The US Federal Register reports that the US State Department has introduced new sanctions against Russia.
New restrictions were introduced against:
Air Forces of the Russian Federation;
“Wagner Group";
Russian citizen Pavel Shevelin;
"Eltechnord" company from St. Petersburg;
a citizen of North Korea.
These persons are accused of violating the US national legislation on the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons, to Iran, North Korea and Syria.
The decision to apply restrictive measures entered into force on Feb. 27.
US sanctions against Russia
On Feb. 23, the US imposed a large-scale package of sanctions against Russia for its military aggression in Ukraine. Almost 300 individuals and legal entities fell under the restrictions.
The US has also imposed sanctions on those involved in supporting future sources of energy revenues in Russia, supporting the Russian Federation's ability to wage an aggressive war, and facilitating sanctions evasion and circumvention.
