The leader of the democratic majority in the US Senate, Chuck Schumer, plans to consider a package of financial aid to Ukraine for over $60 billion, separate from the issue of strengthening the border with Mexico.

What is known about the plans of Congress to consider aid to Ukraine

According to the newspaper's journalists, Schumer still expects the Senate to consider a package of issues related to financing aid to Ukraine, strengthening measures on the border with Mexico, and providing assistance to Israel.

In this way, he wants to enable representatives of the Democratic Party to vote for this bill and do everything possible regarding the issue of the border and aid to Ukraine.

However, it is noted that Schumer's initiative will most likely not find support in the Senate.

After that, the leader of the Democrats in the Senate plans to implement the so-called plan "B".

According to one of the representatives of the Democratic Party in the Senate, Schumer plans to remove the border security clause from the national security package, which includes aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan, and bring such an initiative to a vote.

What they say in Ukraine about the approval of aid from the United States

According to Ukraine’s MFA chief, Dmytro Kuleba, the situation with the approval of US President Joe Biden's request to finance aid to Ukraine is becoming more and more confusing.

I received the latest report from Washington last night about possible scenarios. And some scenarios resemble a detective story. That is, everything is very confusing. It depends on many factors, and it can move straight, left or right, — explains Kuleba.

According to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry chief, the issue of approving aid to Ukraine is no less critical for the Congress itself.

Because everything is so tightly tangled inside that the congressmen and senators have to decide for themselves some basic scenario of the movement. That is, the discussion is not focused on how not to make this decision. And the discussion is focused on how we can make this decision as soon as possible, Kuleba noted.

He emphasizes that representatives of Ukraine interact with their American colleagues daily regarding the issue of aid allocation.

At the same time, the Foreign Minister noted the European Union's decision to create a Ukrainian fund worth 50 billion euros.

Europe has demonstrated its leadership. And those few politicians in America who said: why isn't Europe doing it, is there a war in Europe? The European Union responded. Europe did a strong, dignified and timely job. And now the question is for America to demonstrate that it also remains a leader in the defense of common values and interests, Kuleba emphasised.

At the same time, he said that Ukraine sees US President Joe Biden's administration's incredible determination to do this and observes how the majority of Republicans and Democrats want to do it.

But everything got tangled in such a knot that they just need to sit down and untie it, and make the necessary decisions, Kuleba said.
