Vodafone and lifecell report network difficulties amid the attack on Kyivstar

Due to a large-scale failure on December 12 at the Kyivstar mobile operator, lifecell and Vodafone warned Ukrainians about some difficulties in using services.

Lifecell and Vodafone announced some difficulties due to a cyber attack on the Kyivstar mobile communications operator. At the same time, the networks remain stable.

Friends, we have significantly increased the number of calls to the call center, social networks and through other communication channels. That is why some of you have to wait a little longer for our answer. At the same time, the work of our network is currently stable, the press service writes.

With which there may be difficulties:

  • with account top-up;

  • activation of new subscribers;

  • operation of the site, as well as the application.

Mobile operator Vodafone also announced on Facebook.

Friends, due to the heavy load on our service channels today, some of you may have restrictions in using these channels, Vodafone said.

At the same time, the press service of the mobile operator noted that the services work stably, as well as the network in general.

The Russian special services may be involved in the cyber attack on Kyivstar

The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has opened criminal proceedings on the fact of a cyber attack on the Kyivstar mobile communications operator.

This is reported in the department's press service.

Proceedings were opened under eight articles:

  • unauthorized interference in the work of information networks

  • creating malicious software

  • encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine

  • high treason

  • sabotage

  • waging an aggressive war

  • violation of the laws and customs of war

  • participation in a criminal organization

One of the versions currently being investigated by the SSU investigators is that the special services of the Russian Federation may be behind this hacker attack, the SSU noted.
