As Politico managed to find out, Russian intelligence used a Serbian agent to infiltrate EU institutions.

A Russian agent infiltrated the European Union. What is known

The journalists got acquainted with the data of Western intelligence. It is about the fact that in October 2023, a citizen of Serbia, Novica Antic, deliberately cooperated closely with the Russian special services, and also held meetings with influential European politicians in Brussels.

Among these deputies were the German deputy from the "Greens" Viola von Kramon-Taubadel, the deputy from the Italian Socialists and Democrats Alessandra Moretti and the Slovak member of the conservative group of the European People's Party Volodymyr Bilchyk.

According to the latest data, European politicians had no idea about Antic's connections with the FSB.

What is known about the influence of the FSB on Antic

Western intelligence agencies concluded that Antich is an active "agent of influence" of the FSB.

His connections with an FSB employee named Vyacheslav Kalinin, a Russian citizen and editor-in-chief of Veteran News, a website specializing in news for armed forces veterans, have been confirmed.

In addition, it is emphasized that Kalinin tried to recruit other people without specifying how many and in which countries.

Kalinin invited Antic to Russia for a meeting with the top Russian military leadership in 2019-2020. Initially focusing on influencing Serbian civil society, the pair expanded their reach to include European trade union and veterans organizations and MEPs in recent months.
