The wife of the DIU chief Marianna Budanova and the officers who were recently poisoned by heavy metals are in satisfactory health.
What is the state of health of Budanov's wife after the poisoning
According to DIU representative Andriy Yusov, everything is fine with the wife of Kyrylo Budanov and the officers, thanks to the doctors' timely response and professionalism. They have undergone a course of treatment in a Ukrainian clinic and will continue to be under the supervision of doctors and undergo regular examinations.
He also informed that an internal investigation is ongoing, which is being conducted by the interior units of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine.
When Yusov was asked whether the lives of Marianna Budanova and the officers were not threatened, he noted that such cases of poisoning are complex and require constant monitoring.
Poisoning of the wife of the DIU Chief: what is known
Marianna Budanova's poisoning became known on November 28. It was reported that she was diagnosed with heavy metal poisoning, and after her condition worsened, the wife of the DIU chief was hospitalized.
Symptoms of poisoning were also found in some Ukrainian intelligence officers. The substances likely got into the victims' bodies, not by accident.
According to the DIU ex-chief, Valeriy Kondratyuk, it is likely that Budanova and the DIU officers were poisoned with arsenic and mercury. In particular, these substances take some time to remove from the body.
He also said that the only possibility to prevent an attempt is when the attackers find out the routine of the potential victims, namely, the routes, times, and resident places of the victims.
