Ukraine needs air defense systems to strengthen its air defense. However, the most effective of them are too expensive.

What weapons does Ukraine need to strengthen air defense

Aviation expert Valerii Romanenko is convinced that the Russian Federation is currently focused on producing ballistic missiles.

This was visible from the ratio of production of certain types of rockets, - explained Romanenko.

He said that "Iskanders" and "Kinzhals" production increased significantly. Also, the aggressor country actively worked on modifying Kh-22 missiles into Kh-32.

"Unfortunately, it is very difficult to shoot down these missiles over the territory of Ukraine," the aviation expert said.

According to him, Kyiv is more or less protected from ballistic attacks. However, hits sometimes occur in the capital as well.

But other cities... We simply do not have enough complexes like Patriot and SAMP/T, Romanenko said.

He explained that such complexes are "extremely expensive". If conventional air defense systems cost hundreds of millions, then the price of a Patriot with PAC-3 can reach billions. However, this weapon has serious capabilities to repel missile attacks reliably.

Obviously, the cost of the components does not allow us to supply them more, the expert added.

Russia intensified missile terror of Ukraine

On the night and morning of December 29, the Russian army carried out the most massive air strike on Ukraine.

Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Odesa, Lviv and Zaporizhzhia were the most affected.

Air defense forces managed to destroy 114 of 3,158 enemy targets.

It is essential to understand that the aggressor country used almost all types of weapons available to it.

On the morning of January 1, rescuers retrieved the bodies of 5 more people from under the rubble — thus, the number of victims of the Russian mass attack on December 29 increased to 28.

The Day of Mourning was announced in the capital on January 1.

Already on January 2, Russia again carried out a massive air attack on Ukraine. The enemy attacked Kyiv, the Kyiv region, and Kharkiv.

On January 2, the Russian occupiers launched 99 missiles of various types at Ukraine, of which the air defense forces managed to destroy 72. Also, 35 out of 35 Russian drones were eliminated.

A total of 50 people were injured in Kyiv. Two people died. 57 people were rescued, and 134 people were taken to fresh air.

Two victims were reported in the Kyiv region. One woman died in Kharkiv, and more than 50 civilians were injured.
