According to American diplomats, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin will not agree to a truce in Ukraine before the US presidential elections, which will be held in November 2024.

Putin is determined to fight with Ukraine for at least another year

As one of the American diplomats said after the meeting of foreign ministers of NATO member countries in Brussels, the Alliance confirmed its support for Ukraine, as everyone understands very well that a peace agreement next year is unlikely.

I expect that Putin will not go for peace or a meaningful peace before he sees the results of our elections, the representative of the US State Department said.

Journalists asked him if this statement could be considered his personal opinion or if it is still the position of the US government.

According to the diplomat, this is a "widespread opinion".

It is in this context that the allies expressed their strong support for Ukraine, explained the representative of the US State Department.

The team of the American leader Joe Biden is worried that the return to the White House of the former head of state, Donald Trump, could undermine support for Ukraine amid its war with Russia.

It is worth noting that the American diplomat with whom the journalists spoke did not mention Trump's name nor indicate how the election result could affect support for Ukraine.

Zelenskyy updated the forecast regarding the duration of the war

The head of the Ukrainian state, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, recently called on Ukrainians and the international community to come to terms with the idea that the war will not end as quickly as we would like.

The President complained that the Russian-Ukrainian war in the world, for reasons incomprehensible to him, "is treated like a movie, and they expect that there will be no long pauses in the events."

But for us, for our soldiers, this is not a movie. These are our lives. It's hard work every day. And everything will not end as quickly as we would like, but we do not have the right to give up and we will not do it, Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized.
