The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, at a meeting with the Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal in Kyiv, announced that Ukraine will receive the first financial assistance from the European Union in March. According to her, the payment will amount to 4.5 billion euros.

They talked about our cooperation in the field of defense industry and coordinated the next steps within the framework of the Ukraine Facility initiative, which provides for financing in the amount of 50 billion euros for 4 years. Ms. Ursula reported that the first tranche worth 4.5 billion euros will arrive in March, Shmyhal wrote.

According to him, they also raised the issue of the situation on the Ukrainian-Polish border. The Ukrainian Prime Minister presented the Ukrainian "Plan of mutual understanding" to solve this crisis.

Ursula von der Leyen wrote on the X social network that she and Shmyhal "discussed the next steps regarding the 50 billion euro loan for Ukraine." And she confirmed that the first payment in the amount of 4.5 billion euros will take place in March.
