White House names priority weapons for future aid to Ukraine

The US

The White House has named strengthening Ukraine's air defence as a priority in future US military aid packages.

What is the priority weapon in future aid to Ukraine

According to John Kirby, the Strategic Communications Coordinator for the White House National Security Council, the US prioritises air defence equipment on the list of weapons for which the White House wants to receive additional funding from Congress.

Kirby noted that air defence would be first on the list.

He noted that the most effective response to Russia's horrific violence against the Ukrainian people is to continue to provide Kyiv with vital air defence and other military equipment.

To do this, we need the Congress to approve our request for additional funding for Ukraine without delay," added the US Presidential Administration official.

Aid to Ukraine from USA

The US Congress did not support Biden's request for more than $100 billion for national security needs by the end of 2023. This request includes more than $60 billion for Ukraine.

The main stumbling block was the Republicans, who refused to support the initiative. They demanded that the White House include their proposals for strengthening border security in the request.

On 20 December, it became known that Congress went on holiday without approving Biden's request. At the same time, the funds allocated to help Ukraine remained in the US for one military aid package.
