Roman Hryshchuk, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Education, Science and Innovation, officially confirmed that the provision on the cancellation of part-time and evening study will be proposed in a separate draft law.

What did the VRU actually vote for

As mentioned earlier, on 8 November, the Ukrainian Parliament adopted the Law "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on the State Final Examination and the 2024 Admission Campaign".

It is worth paying attention to the fact that this document regulates admission to institutions of higher education in the following year.

It was in it that the proposal to cancel recruitment for evening and correspondence forms of education was fixed.

However, the Verkhovna Rada voted in favor of the draft law, taking into account the decision of the committee, where the mention of the cancellation of relevant forms of education was removed.

What is currently known about the cancellation of correspondence education

According to Roman Hryshchuk, the adopted law only talks about the format of conducting the national multi-subject test (NMT) in 2024.

He also draws attention to the fact that when this draft law was submitted, it contained a provision on replacing evening and correspondence forms of education with distance form of education.

However, during the preparation, some factions spoke out against it, not wanting to vote for the draft law in both the first and second readings. But we had to vote on the draft law on NMT as soon as possible so that everyone clearly understood the format of the next academic year," says the member of parliament.

As Roman Hryschuk explains, the cancellation of correspondence and evening forms of education is intended to be included in a separate draft law.

The Ministry of Education and Science has to develop it. The Cabinet of Ministers will also submit it, he adds.

It is also worth mentioning that next year Ukraine will increase spending on research and development by more than 20%.
