New Ukrainian sanctions against Russia: what is known

On December 7, Volodymyr Zelenskyy adopted a decree on new sanctions against Russian citizens and companies.

This is stated in the head of state's decree No. 813/2023, published on the president's website.

As noted in the official online representation of the head of state, Zelenskyy decided to put into effect the decision of the NSDC dated December 7: "On the application and introduction of changes to personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions)".

Control over the implementation of the decision entered into force by decree is entrusted to Oleksiy Danilov, the NSDC Secretary.

This decree enters into force on the day of its publication. The President's Office published an addendum indicating sanctioned individuals and legal entities.

Restrictions are being introduced for 185 foreigners, primarily citizens of the Russian Federation. Also, 181 companies registered in Russia entered the list.

The list of individuals includes, in particular, Apti Alaudinov and Ramzan Tsitsulayev, who are associates of the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov.

Alduinov is a Major General from Russia’s National Guard, Kadyrov's assistant for interaction with law enforcement agencies, and commander of the special forces unit "Akhmat". Tsitsulaev was an employee of the Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation and was "plenipotentiary of the Chechnya’s chief in Ukraine."

In addition, the list includes Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Midhat Shagiakhmetov, General Director of "Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant" Adil Shirinov and dozens of people connected with the supply of electronic components for the Russian arms industry, managers and co-founders of enterprises related to the defense industry and the military-industrial complex of the aggressor country.

The complete list of individuals on the sanctioned list can be viewed at the link, and legal persons can be found at this link.

Restrictions include the blocking of assets, regulation of trade operations, transit of resources, flights and transportation through the territory of Ukraine, prevention of withdrawal of capital outside the borders of Ukraine, cancellation or suspension of licenses and prohibition of participation in privatization/leasing, a ban on technology transfer, etc.

Why Putin is afraid of Ukraine joining NATO — explanation by the European Commissioner

Ukraine's NATO accession will weaken Putin
Source:  online.ua

According to the European Commissioner for Defense, Andrius Kubilius, preventing Ukraine from joining NATO will only make it easier for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to plan his next aggressive actions.

Points of attention

  • The illegitimate head of the Kremlin fears that Ukraine's accession to NATO will destroy his plans.
  • Trump sided with Russia on this issue.

Ukraine's NATO accession will weaken Putin

Kubilius warned the international community that the Russian dictator is demanding that Ukraine not be granted NATO membership, not because he is afraid of an attack on himself from Alliance territory.

(Russia) fears that NATO will protect Ukraine from the next Russian aggression. "No NATO" for Ukraine makes it easier for Russia to plan the next aggression, the European Commissioner stressed.

Andrius Kubilius' warning came after US President Donald Trump once again stated that he does not want to see Ukraine in the Alliance.

Moreover, the American leader shamelessly lied that Ukraine itself provoked Russia's invasion when it wanted to join NATO.

Journalists also learned that Donald Trump's team in Paris handed Ukraine a one-page document, which they presented as a "final proposal" for a peaceful settlement.

As it turned out, the States is ready to recognize Russia's control over Ukrainian Crimea and ease sanctions against Moscow.
