Zelenskyy is in Türkiye on an official visit: what is known

Zelenskyy arrived in Türkiye on Mar. 8. The program begins with a visit to the Hetman Ivan Vyhovsky corvette, which is being built for the Ukrainian Navy at a shipyard near Istanbul.

According to order No. 150/2024, Zelenskyy named the Navy's "Ada" class corvette after Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi.

In the future, it will be called the "Hetman Ivan Vyhovskyi" Corvette. This was done to restore the national army's historical traditions and perpetuate the memory of the outstanding Ukrainian military, political, and statesman Hetman of the Cossack Army Ivan Vyhovskyi.

The visit's agenda includes a bilateral meeting between the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and the President of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and a meeting of the Ukrainian and Turkish delegations in an extended format. In addition, Ukraine's president will meet with representatives of Turkish defence companies.

After the bilateral meeting of the presidents, a joint press conference is planned.

During the visit of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Türkiye, the topics will be the Peace Formula, the organization of the Peace Summit, the safety of shipping in the Black Sea, global food stability, the release of Ukrainian captives and political prisoners held by the Russian state.

Construction of a Corvette for Ukraine in Türkiye

Construction of the "Ada" type corvette for the Ukrainian Navy started in April 2021.

The corvette is being built following the strategy for the Navy's development until 2036.

The keel of the "Ada" corvette class ship was laid in Türkiye on Sept. 7, 2021, for the AFU Navy. Construction of the hull began at the Turkish shipyard on Nov. 13 of the same year.

It was planned that in 2022 the first corvette will be shipped to Ukraine, where it will be completed, and in 2024 it will enter the Ukrainian Navy. Due to the war started by Russia against Ukraine, the shipment of the corvette was delayed.

The Ada-class corvette will be adapted to all available types of anti-ship missiles.

Putin's position on security guarantees for Ukraine has changed dramatically

What was Dmitriev talking about?
Source:  Fox News

The Russian dictator's representative, Kirill Dmitriev, made a new, loud statement after talks at the White House. According to him, some security guarantees for Ukraine "may be acceptable."

Points of attention

  • The Kremlin's openness to security guarantees for Kyiv contrasts with previous demands for Ukraine's demilitarization and opposition to European peacekeepers.
  • The recent developments underscore a significant departure from Russia's usual positions on Ukraine, posing new challenges and opportunities for diplomatic relations.

What was Dmitriev talking about?

Dmitriev began to cynically lie that Ukraine had attacked Russian energy facilities.

Despite this, he added that negotiations with Donald Trump's representative had a "positive outcome."

According to him, Putin's team is allegedly currently open to security guarantees for Kyiv.

"Some security guarantees in one form or another may be acceptable," Kirill Dmitriev said, but did not explain what they were.

Against this background, he categorically rejected Ukraine's accession to NATO as "absolutely impossible."

American journalists point out that the new statement by Putin's representative is a departure from the Kremlin's usual position.

The Russian dictator previously claimed that peace would only be possible if Ukraine was "demilitarized," while Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow was "categorically" opposed to European troops acting as peacekeepers.

US President Donald Trump has endorsed pro-Russian politician Marine Le Pen, the leader of the French National Rally party. This came after she was sentenced to 4 years in prison (2 suspended, 2 with an electronic bracelet) in a case of embezzlement of EU funds. In addition, a court in France banned her from running for public office.

Points of attention

  • US President Donald Trump endorsed Marine Le Pen, the leader of the French National Rally party, who was sentenced to 4 years in prison for embezzlement of EU funds.
  • Trump defended Le Pen, labeling the verdict as a 'witch hunt' and claiming it was used to censor a political opponent and restrict freedom of speech.
  • Marine Le Pen, along with eight members of the European Parliament, including Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Dutch House of Representatives member Geert Wilders, were found guilty of embezzlement, with Le Pen being fined and banned from running for public office.

Trump talks about a “witch hunt” regarding Le Pen’s conviction

Trump said on the social network Truth Social that this case is a "witch hunt."

The witch hunt against Marine Le Pen is yet another example of how the European left is using the law to silence free speech and censor its political opponent.

The US president added that European leaders "went too far" when they jailed their opponent, saying it happened on the eve of her "big victory."

I don't know Le Pen, but I appreciate how hard she worked for so many years. She suffered losses, but she kept going.

In addition, he believes that Le Pen "did not know about the embezzlement of EU funds" and that this is completely an "accounting error."

Le Pen and eight members of the European Parliament have been found guilty of embezzlement. Le Pen was accused of misusing public funds. In addition to the term, the woman must pay a fine of 100,000 euros.

In addition, supporters of "Putin's girlfriend" stood up for her, saying they were "shocked by the incredibly harsh" sentence. Her "friends" include Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, member of the Dutch House of Representatives Geert Wilders, member of the Spanish Congress of Deputies Santiago Abascal, and others.
