He emphasised that the world's civilised community should increase its contributions to the rapprochement and preservation of peace, justice, and stability for everyone.
Before the full-scale invasion, we kept hearing — don't escalate the situation! We called for active action and sanctions to prevent the war from expanding. We were told: don't escalate the situation. And after February 24, nothing harmed our coalitions more than this concept, — emphasised the president.
Zelenskyy added that everyone in the free world should be unwavering in achieving their desires, actions and goals, just as Putin openly talks about his doomed ambitions.
The President said that Ukrainians started their defence at a time when almost no one in the world believed in Ukraine.
But now Ukraine has switched roles so that the world has stopped believing in Russia.
At the same time, Zelenskyy noted that the aggression of the Russian Federation is not directed exclusively at Ukraine. It is becoming increasingly clear where the Kremlin dictator can try to strengthen his destructive influence.
Possible directions and even timing of new Russian aggression outside Ukraine are becoming more and more obvious. Let me ask: what European country today can provide a combat-ready army equal to ours, which deters Russia? And how are many men and women of your countries ready to send to protect another state, another nation? — asks the president.
He called for an end to the Kremlin dictatorship of the criminal Putin.
Zelenskyy emphasised that Ukraine is capable of stopping the catastrophe of further Russian aggression, and the free world must now be steadfast in its desires, actions and goals.
Zelenskyy on the Kremlin's interference in the affairs of other countries
The President emphasised that Kremlin dictator and war criminal Vladimir Putin stole 13 years of stable and peaceful life from the world.
I appreciate your willingness to hear the answers to the really important questions: When will the war end? Is the third world war possible? Is it time to negotiate with Putin? Full-scale war in Europe has been going on for almost two years. Taking into account the time since the beginning of the Russian illegal annexation of our Crimea, it has been almost 10 years, Zelenskyy emphasised.
According to him, the Kremlin has been interfering in the internal affairs of countries such as Sudan, Mali and other African states for more than ten years and is waging a destructive war in Syria.
The Syrian war, which is still bleeding because of Putin's decision to prove something to the world. And this has been going on for almost 13 years. In fact, one man stole at least 13 years of peace and replaced them with pain and crises that affect the whole world, Zelenskyy added.
Zelenskyy on aid from the US and the EU
According to the President, a decision regarding the financing of military and other aid to Ukraine by Western partners should be made within the next few weeks.
I have positive signals that Europe supports us, namely the EU countries, and I am also sure that the issue will be resolved with help in Congress, Zelenskyy said.
He emphasised that Ukrainian diplomats and other authorities' representatives have held many discussions, dialogues, and meetings to decide on further aid.
Because we have to be in our country during the war, it is important to come and communicate with partners, meet, but nevertheless there are priorities in wartime. Therefore, I believe that there will be a very positive reaction from our partners, Zelenskyy noted.
What is known about Ukraine's significant steps towards EU membership
In addition, the Office of the President of Ukraine (ORU) noted that during the meeting with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen and Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed to start reviewing Ukrainian legislation for compliance with EU requirements.
During the negotiations, Zelenskyy and von der Leyen discussed the critical priorities of the agenda of relations between Ukraine and the EU, primarily the issue of the actual start of negotiations on EU accession.
The head of the Ukrainian state and the head of the European Commission agreed on the start of the screening of Ukrainian legislation, which is another step on the way to the opening of negotiations on Ukraine's membership in the European Union, the OPU press service noted.
The parties also paid special attention to the decision to provide Ukraine with EUR 50 billion from the EU at the summit, which will take place on February 1.
Zelenskyy said that he hopes for a consensus on this issue.
