The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, told how to win in the information war, when Russia invests a lot of money to spread disinformation. The Ukrainian leader urges not to trust blindly, but to analyze and verify information.

Zelenskyy provided the formula for victory in the information war with Russia

Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about the recipes for victory in the information war with Russia.

The Ukrainian president announced this during a joint meeting with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk with students of Ukrainian higher education institutions.

Information war, first of all, I believe that only reason and analytics can win. The opportunity to simply not believe, not to trust blindly, but to check everything, said Zelenskyy.

He said today, there is a lot of dirt and clutter in the information space.

And whoever invests a lot of money, and believe me, Russia invests in all networks everywhere, including Europe, and not only the European Union, the United States, Latin America, Arab countries, invests in social networks, in various media platforms. And the only chance to understand where there is truth and where there is not: first you need to analyse it all, — noted the president.

He is convinced that the media field in Ukraine is more or less cleared of Russian disinformation.

But, unfortunately, we still have media platforms that pick up the Russian narrative, without even realising that it is a Russian narrative, without analyzing it, they publish it only for the sake of being read or watched more. People trust, don't check, and it works. And how does it work? It splits unity in the world, in Europe and Ukraine, — said Zelenskyy.

At the same time, the head of state is sure that thanks to their young age, Ukrainian students can defeat Russian disinformation because they can analyse in the age of social networks.

The most important thing is not to be lazy, to analyse before drawing conclusions, said Zelenskyy.

Russia is spreading disinformation about the war

In December 2023, The New York Times reported that Russia uses videos of American celebrities criticising the Ukrainian leader as a part of the information war.

In particular, Microsoft discovered that celebrities — Elijah Wood, Mike Tyson and others — were tricked into filming videos attacking the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

The US State Department warned that elections will be held in dozens of countries around the world in 2024, and Russia will try to conduct "information operations" aimed at turning public opinion in Europe against Ukraine during these votes.
