Volodymyr Zelenskyi
Kyiv

Following the massive Russian missile attack on 2 January, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that since 31 December, the Russian army has already used about 170 Shahed attack drones and dozens of missiles of various types against Ukraine.

Zelensky reacted to Russia’s massive missile attacks

The President said that the vast majority of missiles and drones were aimed at civilian objects. He thanked the air force and rescuers for their work.

Patriot, Iris, Nasams - each such [air defence] systems have already saved at least hundreds of lives. And Russia will be responsible for every life taken. Glory to Ukraine!

I am grateful to all the partners who help to strengthen our air shield. And it is obvious that this helps to save hundreds of lives every day and every night that would have been taken by Russian terror if not for Patriots and other defence systems.
