Zelenskyy says long-range weapon supply for Ukraine to change the course of war

Office of the President of Ukraine
Volodymyr Zelenskyy

According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine's acquisition of long-range weapons from Western partners can change the course of the criminal war launched by Russia against Ukraine.

What is known is the ability of long-range weapons to bring Ukraine closer to victory in the war

Zelenskyy reminded that Ukraine undertook not to use long-range weapons received from Western partners for strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation but only on objects in the occupied territories.

We have a shortage and lack of various ammunition, including long-range ammunition. After all, when you have such a deficit, our goal is to de-occupy our lands and end the war. And having a strong weapon sometimes, you know, you may not be able to use some weapons because certain enemy troops are afraid if you use this or that weapon. They are leaving, Zelenskyy explains.

How Ukraine can de-occupy territories with the help of long-range weapons

The President emphasised that a striking example is the success of the Ukrainian military in destroying ships of the Black Sea Fleet.

After the Russian occupiers lost many ships, they took the remaining ones to their territorial waters.

The same example could change what you asked about — and the move on land, the move of the war on the ground. If you have the appropriate weapons and you can respond to the Russian army, which uses long-range weapons in your civilian cities, for example, in Kherson. They stand on the other bank of the Dnipro River. And their range is stronger than ours. They fire artillery over 20 km, and we have an artillery projectile up to 20 km. And imagine if you have a long-range weapon — you can knock them out further. And they themselves, they are inexperienced people, many of them are afraid. And if our weapons would reach there, they would also leave, — explains Zelenskyy.

The President emphasized that long-range weapons can change the war's course and help Ukraine progress.
