Zelenskyy talked with the King of Bahrain for the first time in bilateral relations

Office of the President of Ukraine
Volodymyr Zelenskyy

On January 8, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa.

What did Zelenskyy talk about with the King of Bahrain

According to the Office of the President, Zelenskyy noted that this was the first conversation between the leaders of Ukraine and Bahrain in the entire history of bilateral relations. At the same time, last year, the first visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain az-Zayani to Ukraine took place.

I hope that the establishment of contacts at the highest level will open a new page in Ukrainian-Bahrain relations, Zelenskyy noted.

The countries' leaders discussed issues of bilateral cooperation, global food security and support for the Ukrainian peace formula.

The Office of the President of Ukraine specified that Zelenskyy had thanked the Emir of Bahrain for the participation of the Bahrain representatives in previous meetings of national security advisers and political advisers of state leaders regarding the implementation of the Ukrainian peace formula and invited him to participate in the next event, which would be held in Davos in January.

The President also told the leader of Bahrain about the measures Ukraine is taking to support the unhindered export of grain through the Black Sea and thus ensure global food stability.

Zelenskyy held talks with the Emir of Kuwait

On the same day, Zelenskyy held talks with the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Meshal al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah.

The President thanked Kuwait for supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, voting on Ukrainian resolutions at the UN, and providing electricity generators ahead of winter.

Ukraine is making maximum efforts to restore a just peace. We ensure freedom of navigation in the Black Sea and remain the guarantor of global food stability, Zelenskyy said.

The President also invited the representative of Kuwait to the next meeting on the implementation of the Ukrainian peace formula, which will be held in Davos, and to participate in preparing the upcoming Global Peace Summit.
