On February 1, the head of state, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, officially commented on the European Union leaders' decision regarding the allocation of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine in the amount of 50 billion euros.

Zelenskyy's reaction to 50 billion euros from the EU

According to the Ukrainian president, he is sincerely grateful to Charles Michel and other leaders of the EU member states for creating a financial instrument for Ukraine, the Ukraine Facility, in the amount of up to 50 billion euros for 2024-2027.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted the decision was adopted unanimously by all 27 leaders and that this is very important.

This once again proves the powerful unity of the European Union, the Ukrainian leader emphasised.

According to Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the continuation of financial support from official Brussels for Ukraine will strengthen Ukraine's long-term economic and financial stability, which is no less important than military aid and sanctions pressure on Russia.

The EU approved 50 billion euros for Ukraine despite Hungary's resistance

On February 1, it became officially known that the leadership of the European Union overcame the long-term veto of Viktor Orban's team and reached an agreement on allocating macro-financial assistance to Ukraine for 50 billion euros.

This locks in steadfast, long-term, predictable funding for Ukraine, Charles Michel emphasised.

This decision was reached after a small group of EU leaders convinced the Hungarian leader to overturn his veto on the funding package.

According to journalists, the details of the agreement agreed in the European Union are currently unknown.
