A Ukrainian bus carrying 26 people had an accident in the Lublin Voivodeship. According to the Polish police, three victims were taken to the hospital for examination.
What is known about road accident
The accident happened at 00:30 Kyiv time on road 812 in the village of Wyznica. According to preliminary data, the 63-year-old bus driver connecting Riga-Chernivtsi lost control in bad weather conditions. After that, the bus skidded on the turn, went to the right side, touched the energy-absorbing barrier, overturned, colliding with a tree.
There were two drivers and 24 passengers on the bus. Rescue services assisted the victims on the spot. Two people, including an 80-year-old woman with injuries, were taken to the hospital for examination.
The rest of the passengers were taken to a temporary stay place in Wyznica, where they were waiting for another bus. According to the police, the bus driver was sober.
In a comment to Suspilne, the Ukrainian MFA spokesman, Oleg Nikolenko, said that the Consulate General of Ukraine in Lublin already provides consular assistance to Ukrainians injured in a traffic accident.
He added that the Ukrainian consulate cooperates with Polish law enforcement officers to determine the accident's circumstances and "monitor the treatment of the injured people."
The road accidents involving Ukrainians
In December 2023, a bus carrying 53 citizens of Ukraine was involved in an accident in Slovakia. Then, eight people were injured as a result of the accident.
