The vessel lost speed and control, a fire broke out on the upper deck. To avoid flooding, the captain fixed the vessel on the ground, the military said.

Boats of the Maritime Guard and Search and Rescue Service immediately assisted the crew and brought medics on board.

Upon inspection of the vessel and interview of the captain, two sailors were found who were injured. One was treated on the spot, the second wounded person was taken to the nearest hospital for further examination, accompanied by medics. His condition is satisfactory, the Southern Defense Forces added.

Currently, tugboats are directed to the vessel to remove it from the ground and deliver it to the port.

Vessel emergencies in the Black Sea

We note that such cases are not uncommon recently. For example, in October, a Turkish-flagged cargo vessel was blown up by a mine near the coast of Romania in the Black Sea. As a result of the incident, the vessel received minor damage, and the crew was not injured.

In addition, at the beginning of November, the Russian occupiers launched a missile attack on a vessel entering the port of Odesa region. One sailor died, and four others were injured.
