Two hundred seventy-seven people died in Ukraine due to mines or other explosive devices during the full-scale Russian invasion. The press officer of the State Emergency Service, Oleksandr Khorunzhyi, reported this.

Russian mines took the lives of hundreds of Ukrainians

Since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of explosive devices, 277 people have died, of which 14 are children, said the State Emergency Service of Ukraine spokesman.

In addition, it is specified that at least 608 people were injured as a result of the mine explosion. Among them are 74 children.

Oleksandr Khorunzhyi officially confirmed that during the last 22 months, Ukrainian rescuers managed to successfully defuse 464,000 explosive objects, in particular, more than 3,000 aerial bombs.

The most active demining continues in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions, he adds.

According to Oleksandr Khorunzhy, in winter, the demining process is significantly complicated due to snow cover and low temperatures.

Despite this, rescuers continue to go to calls.

The scale of the aggression of the Russian Federation and, as a result, mining require more special equipment. The dialogue with foreign partners regarding the needs in the field of demining continues continuously. Together we can do more! — the State Emergency Service press service emphasises.

What mine safety rules are essential for all Ukrainians to know:

The State Emergency Service pays attention to three primary rules:

  • Avoid forests, forest strips, fields, parks and reservoirs where active hostilities occur. There is a danger of encountering an explosive object.

  • Do not approach or touch things left on the street. The enemy disguises mines under them or hides them inside.

  • If you see a suspicious object, call 101 immediately.
