According to the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine Oleksandr Lytvynenko, the Kremlin regime of dictator Vladimir Putin has returned Russia to the times of Soviet totalitarianism in terms of the scale of repression.

What is known about the growing wave of protests in Russia

The scale of these repressions has long been comparable not only to the times of Brezhnev, but also Khrushchev. And in terms of prison terms, he has long since reached the times of Stalin. As of the beginning of 2024, 1,871 individuals are considered to be involved in politically motivated persecution. The death in the colony of the Russian oppositionist Navalny and the especially shameful speculations surrounding the extradition of his body reflect the portrait of modern Russia, - Lytvynenko notes.

According to the head of the Foreign Intelligence Service during a press conference at the forum "Ukraine. Year 2024", the Kremlin fears not only other countries, Ukraine in particular, but also its own people.

In Russia itself, despite the silence, the situation is not as stable as it might seem. Hypercentralization leads to delayed decision-making. Troubled movements are intensifying in the Russian Federation. Such a dangerous movement for them, which led to the collapse of the Soviet Union during the war in Afghanistan, has started again - the movement of Russian wives and mothers, - Litvinenko explains.

What is known about expectations from the results of the presidential elections in the Russian Federation

He also noted that the presidential elections planned in Russia in March will be held with the results already determined by the Kremlin.

Yes, 75% will vote for Putin in the elections. But one must be aware of how legitimate the results will be. There are many reasons for doubt - from the very nomination of Putin to the post, the adoption of amendments, the international arrest warrant, - emphasized Lytvynenko.
