The Defense Forces of Ukraine managed to expel the Russian invaders from some positions near Verbove in Zaporizhzhia. In addition, Ukrainian soldiers did not allow the enemy to break through their defenses in the Avdiivka and Kupiansk directions.

Main events on the Ukrainian front on January 2-3
During the past day, 57 combat clashes took place. The Russian army carried out 89 missile and 72 air strikes, including by Shahed-136/131 type drones.
Also, at least 48 attacks from MLRS on the positions of the Armed Forces soldiers and peaceful Ukrainians were recorded.
In the Bakhmut direction, our defenders could repulse six attacks by Russian invaders in the Bohdanivka, Klishchiivka and Andriivka districts of the Donetsk region.
In the area of OSTG "Tavria" responsibility in the Avdiivka direction, the defenders continue to restrain the enemy, who does not stop trying to surround Avdiivka.
In addition, it is emphasized that in the area of OSTG "Odesa" responsibility in the Kherson direction, AFU soldiers continue the measures to expand the bridgehead.
On January 2, Russian soldiers carried out nine unsuccessful assaults on this part of the front.
According to the data of the General Staff, Ukrainian aviation struck 12 areas where enemy personnel were concentrated.
Units of missile troops hit two areas of personnel, weapons and military equipment concentration, three anti-aircraft missile systems, two control points, an artillery system, a radar system and a warehouse of Russian fuel and lubricants.
