US Democrats in Congress are ready to vote for the allocation of military aid to Ukraine and Israel.
Aid to Ukraine and Israel from the USA
The leader of the majority in the Senate, Democrat Chuck Schumer, plans to hold a vote on billions in aid for Ukraine and Israel as early as December 4.
Politico reported this.
Schumer is thus pressing lawmakers to agree on the border security policy as it is combined with aid to Ukraine and Israel.
Schumer called this requirement the "biggest obstacle" to providing new funds for Ukraine's defence against Russia and Israel's war with Hamas.
He also urged Democrats to work more with Republicans to strike a deal, warned of long nights and days ahead, and possible weekend work.
A bipartisan coalition was formed several weeks ago with hopes of reaching a deal that would combine Biden's request for more than $100 billion for Ukraine, Israel, Taiwan and the border with changes to US asylum and parole policies.
Schumer also said that a briefing o’ briefing on Ukraine will be held in the coming days.
What is known about the situation with the issue of military aid to Ukraine and Israel from the USA
According to Mike Turner, the head of the intelligence committee of the US House of Representatives, it will be difficult for Congress to decide on further military aid to Ukraine and Israel by the end of this year.
Turner noted that a return to the previous provisions of the legislation on border security measures could mean restrictions on the entry of asylum seekers into the country, in particular, by crossing the border from the Mexican side.
