The ex-colonel from Zhytomyr was sentenced to 15 years

The Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) reports that the convict was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property. He was also stripped of his military rank.

Prosecutors proved in court that from September 2022 to February 2023, the man actively cooperated with the intelligence of "Wagner Group".

The convict had military experience, and in the past, he headed the intelligence department of the missile forces and artillery.

The OGP reports that the man was detained in March 2023. Then, the court chose a pre-trial measure for him — detention with the right to post bail.

Bail was posted for him, after which the man broke the bond and tried to flee to Belarus. He was detained while attempting to cross the border. He has been in custody since then.

During the trial, the traitor did not admit his guilt. He used his state of health to extend the terms of the case. He did not hide his pro-Russian ideological views, confirming his contemptuous attitude towards Ukrainians.

How did the ex-colonel work on Wagner Group?

The PGO notes that the convict studied the location of strategically essential objects, military units, and the number and routes of AFU military equipment movement to fulfil the tasks of the Russian curator. He also monitored defence facilities near administrative buildings and law enforcement agencies.

He put these bits of intelligence on a detailed map of the regional centre, photographed them, and sent them to Russian intelligence.

He also collected and passed the profile data to one of the "Wagner" military unit commanders. At the same time, the convict was aware of the gravity of his crime and complained to the curator that with such cooperation, he was "risking his freedom."

The convict communicated with a representative of the so-called "Wagner group" through the one social network banned in Ukraine and Telegram messenger. He used the call sign "Snarov".
