In the Avdiivka sector, the area of responsibility of Tavria operetional-strategical group, Ukrainian defenders continue to hold back the enemy, who keeps trying to surround Avdiivka. Our soldiers are holding their posotions, inflicting significant losses on the occupiers.
Russian occupiers suffered the most losses in the Tavria direction
On 4 January, Ukrainian troops killed almost 500 more Russian occupiers in the Tavria sector. The Ukrainian army also destroyed 68 units of enemy military equipment.
This was reported by the United Press Center of the Defence Forces of the Tavria direction on Facebook.
In general, the enemy carried out 14 airstrikes, 47 combat engagements and 1,008 artillery barrages in the Tavria direction .
The threat of the enemy using missile weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles against military and civilian infrastructure remains high.
In the zone of responsibility of the Tavria operetional-strategical group in the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders continue to restrain the enemy, who does not stop trying to surround Avdiivka. Our soldiers firmly defend the foothold, inflicting significant losses on the invaders.
Thus, during the past 24 hours, the Defence Forces repelled 16 attacks near Novobakhmutivka, Stepove, Avdiivka, and another 16 attacks in the Pervomaisky and Nevelsky districts of Donetsk region.
In the Maryinka direction, the Armed Forces continue to hold back the enemy near Maryinka and Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region, where 7 attacks were repulsed.
The occupiers did not conduct offensive (assault) actions in the Shakhtarsk direction.
In the Zaporizhzhia direction, the Defence Forces repelled 8 enemy attacks in the Robotyne area and north-west of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region.
The total losses of the Russian army amounted to 470 people.
Also, Ukrainian fighters destroyed 68 units of enemy military equipment, in particular:
7 tanks;
11 armoured fighting vehicles;
14 artillery systems;
20 UAVs;
14 military cars;
2 units of special equipment.
In addition, one warehouse of Russian ammunition was destroyed.
Situation at the front
According to the General Staff, the Ukrainian military repelled 32 enemy attacks in the Avdiivka direction, and measures to expand the foothold in the Kherson direction are continuing. Aviation hit 4 enemy artillery pieces.
Russia's losses in the war in Ukraine as of the morning of Friday, January 5, amounted to 790 invaders. The total number of losses of the Russian army since the beginning of the invasion is 363,070 soldiers. In addition, the Armed Forces destroyed 18 drones, 30 artillery systems and 40 military vehicles.
