US President Joe Biden called the meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping "constructive and productive", saying that the leaders agreed, particularly on restoring military ties.

Details of the agreements between Biden and Xi Jinping

The leaders agreed to "restore high-level military cooperation between the two countries on the basis of equality and respect."

The two sides will also resume meetings between their defense ministries, consult on maritime military security and begin talks between the commanders.

The parties also agreed to create a working group on the fight against drugs and an intergovernmental dialogue on artificial intelligence.

In addition, the two countries' leaders also promised to increase the number of flights early next year and expand exchanges in the fields of education, foreign students, culture, sports and business.

Biden also said the leaders agreed to be ready to answer each other's phone calls.

According to Biden, during the four-hour talks, the two countries' leaders agreed on limiting the flow of fentanyl, restoring military ties and working together on artificial intelligence.

Biden said China's agreement to reduce fentanyl precursor chemicals "will save lives" and said he appreciated Xi's commitment to the issue.

Meeting of the leaders of the USA and China

It will be recalled that Biden and Xi Jinping met on American soil for the first time in six years. The last time a Chinese leader visited the United States was when Donald Trump was president.

Biden and Xi Jinping are expected to raise global issues: the conflict in the Middle East, Russia's invasion of Ukraine, North Korea's relationship with the Russian Federation, Taiwan, human rights, artificial intelligence, and trade and economic relations.

Biden himself previously stated that his goal at the negotiations would be to improve relations with China against the backdrop of tensions in relations related, in particular, to the issue of Taiwan.
