As Reuters journalists found out, on 8 January, representatives of the White House met with the heads of military-industrial complex companies to discuss the production of weapons for Ukraine.

New meeting in US regarding Ukraine: what is known

According to insiders, the purpose of the meeting was to demonstrate the interest of the administration of US leader Joe Biden in ensuring Ukraine's access to advanced US equipment.

The conversation focused on a range of systems, including unmanned aerial vehicles, and how to counter them, as well as addressing the issue of demining, one official told reporters.

In addition, it is emphasised that the meeting was initiated by US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan.

The latter hoped that he could attract more attention to help Ukraine overcome key technological challenges that, as it is important to understand, are slowing down the progress and dynamics of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the battlefield.

According to the latest reports, the following companies took part in the meeting: Palantir Technologies Inc (PLTR.N), Anduril Industries Inc, Skydio and others.

Members of the Biden team believe that any efforts to support Ukraine will be limited without an additional aid package worth more than $100 billion, which includes about $50 billion in new security assistance to Ukraine, and which Congress must support.

US already exhausted all funds for aid to Ukraine

Recently, the White House officially confirmed that it no longer has money for new military support for Ukraine until it is approved by the US Congress.

In response to Russia's massive shelling of Ukraine on 29 December, US President Joe Biden once again publicly called on Congress to approve additional aid to Kyiv as soon as possible.

On 27 December, official Washington announced that it would provide Ukraine with the last military aid package worth $250 million in 2023.
