According to Julian Röpke, an analyst of the German edition of Bild, the criminal army of the Russian Federation has launched a new large-scale offensive in the regions of Avdiyivka and Bakhmut in Donetsk region.
What is known about the situation in the Avdiivka and Bakhmut areas
According to the publication's analyst, since the end of December last year, the Russian occupiers have not made active offensive attempts in the east of Ukraine and have now resumed attacks.
The analyst, referring to one of the numerous videos from the area of the front in the Avdiyivka area, emphasized that late in the evening on January 16, the Russian occupiers, taking advantage of the heavy snowfall, tried to attack with a column of tanks and APVs in the direction of Avdiivka from the northeast from near Krasnohorivka.
It is noted that the Russian occupiers managed to reach the defence line of the Armed Forces near the Avdiiv quarry, but the results of this battle remain unknown.
Previously, the occupiers tried to take Avdiivka from the northwest in the Stepove district, southwest near Sieverne, and southeast from the Donetsk side. The recent attack from the northeast was a somewhat new direction of attack.
What is known about the situation in the Kherson region
According to the Operational Command "South" press centre representatives, Russian war criminals have significantly increased the number of attacks on the left bank of the Dnieper in the Kherson region in the area of the settlement of Krynky.
During the past day, the enemy made six unsuccessful assaults and, having suffered numerous losses, was forced to retreat.
It is noted that during the day, the Ukrainian military eliminated 16 Russian war criminals, the reconnaissance UAV "Orlan-10", nine units of armoured vehicles and a cannon.
In addition, the enemy observation point and ground artillery reconnaissance station SNAR-10 "Leopard" were destroyed.
At the same time, the occupiers do not stop active aerial surveillance, continue to press with artillery fire, and use attack drones of various types.
As a result of the artillery shelling, three civilians were wounded, and more than a dozen private houses, a warehouse building and a power line were damaged.
According to the Defense Forces, there are currently four ships of the enemy fleet in the Black Sea, including a surface missile carrier equipped with eight Kalibr cruise missiles. One ship of the occupiers is on combat duty in the Sea of Azov.
