The US State Department chief, Anthony Blinken, will participate in the first meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council and promise Kyiv constant support from the Alliance.

It is noted that Blinken should emphasize the continued support of Ukraine by the Alliance, even though Washington has already transferred a significant part of resources to provide military assistance to Israel.

According to the publication, the attack by the Palestinian terrorists from Hamas on Israel on October 7 and the subsequent military operation of the Israeli military in the territory of the Gaza Strip caused concern that the United States would be unable to maintain military support for Ukraine at the current level.

According to James O'Brien, assistant secretary of the US State Department for European and Eurasian Affairs, Blinken should participate in the first meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council at the level of foreign ministers in Brussels and emphasize Washington's commitment to maintaining military support for Ukraine.

This is part of the process of finding a place in the Alliance, which, as we have always said, is the future of Ukraine, O'Brien noted.

The representative of the US State Department also emphasized that the White House is convinced of the preservation of military support for Ukraine and the approval of the relevant requests from President Joe Biden by the US Congress.

NATO ministers are meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday amid ongoing tensions over Sweden's accession to the Alliance.

Turkey, which along with Hungary, is blocking Sweden's entry, has informed NATO that its parliament will not complete the ratification of the application before the meetings.

"Our view to our Turkish allies has been that there is no reason for further delay and we expect to see some positive action very soon," O'Brien stressed.

According to him, the chief of the US State Department also intends to discuss the growing tension in the Balkans.

The representative of the State Department also noted that NATO is considering an increase in military presence against the background of rising tensions in Northern Kosovo.

The availability of security and peace in the north is the key to achieving political progress within the framework of the "road map" and on the path of both countries to Europe, O'Brien said.
