The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) chief, Gen Kyrylo Budanov, said that he knows who poisoned his wife Marianna and hinted at the answer.

Budanov knows those responsible for poisoning his wife

In an interview with the French publication Liberation, Budanov answered the question of whether the poisoning was an attempt on his life and how his wife is feeling.

My wife is feeling better. As I did not use any poison, it is difficult for me to say whether it was an attempt on my life. But I have already survived many attempts and will probably survive many more. I think that in the near future you will see appropriate actions on Russian territory, and everyone will understand this.

When asked if he knows who is responsible for this poisoning, Budanov answered: "Of course!".

The DIU chief was also asked about his reaction to the fact that Ukraine's partners are concerned about the prospect of the war being transferred to the territory of Russia.

I always tell them the same thing: if you are concerned about the war spreading to Russia, come and express your concerns here. We can show them a great number of cities that have been wiped off the face of the earth. If they have anything to say after that, I'd love to hear it.

Poisoning of Budanov's wife: what is known

In November 2023, it was reported that Marianna Budanova, the wife of the DIU chief, was poisoned with heavy metals.

After the poisoning, additional security measures were introduced at the DIU.

The DIU speaker, Andrii Yusov, reported that the treatment, as well as the investigation, will be a long process.

According to him, as soon as his results are known, they will definitely be reported.
