What destroyed the missile corvette "Ivanovets"

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) chief, Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, told The War Zone that Ukraine attacked the Russian missile corvette "Ivanovets" on the night of February 1 with unmanned MAGURA V5 naval drones.

They were led by the DIU Group 13 special unit soldiers.

In the course of special measures in the period from January 31 to February 1, the agency planned and carried out the destruction of "Ivanovets" during the raid on Lake Donuzlav, Budanov said.

He specified that six naval drones hit the corvette during its destruction. They attacked the hull of the ship.

As a result of the damage, the ship overturned to the stern and sank. According to preliminary data, the search and rescue operation of the enemy was not successful, — added the DIU chief.

At the same time, Budanov refused to name the launch point of the sea drones. The publication admits they could have been launched further in the Black Sea.

MAGURA V5 drone: what is known

MAGURA V5 was created by the Ukrainian state enterprise SpetsTechnoExport. It has a length of 5.5 meters with a cruising range of 450 nautical miles (approximately 833 km), a cruising speed of 22 knots (40.7 km/h) and a burst speed of 42 knots thanks to the water jet.

The drone has a carrying capacity of 320 kilograms. The company says you can communicate with the drone via a mesh radio with aerial repeated/or satellite communications.

Previously, the GUR used MAGURA V5 drones on November 10, when two Russian amphibious boats stationed at the base of the Russian Navy in Chornomorskyi in western Crimea were destroyed.
