Representatives of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation oppose the creation of an international commission to investigate the circumstances of the Il-76 plane crash in the Belgorod region on the morning of January 24.
Why does Russia oppose the international investigation of the Il-76 plane crash?
According to the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) representative, Andriy Yusov, the demand for creating an international commission to investigate the circumstances of the Il-76 wreckage is logical and well-founded.
The DIU representative explained that it is possible to specifically find out the causes of the plane crash thanks to the study of the wreckage, the records of the "black boxes", and after examining the plane crash site.
What has been said in the US
US State Department spokesman Vedant Patel noted that Washington is cooperating with Kyiv as part of the investigation into the circumstances of the Russian Il-76 plane crash in the Belgorod area.
The representative of the State Department reminded that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, called for an international investigation into the circumstances of this plane crash.
What is known about the Il-76 crash
The DIU called "rude" the comment of the Kremlin spokesman, Dmytry Peskov, regarding the readiness to investigate the circumstances of the Il-76 plane crash in the Belgorod area exclusively from the standpoint of "criminal actions" of Ukraine.
According to DIU speaker Andrii Yusov, "in general, we are talking about a Russian military transport plane, which should not be involved in POW exchange operations".
Yusov noted that Russia constantly cynically manipulates the POW topic and uses it as a subject of pressure on Ukraine to destabilise the situation in Ukraine.
