DIU says Russia plans to allow its soldiers to cast posthumous votes in elections

The leadership of the Russian MOD allows service members who are taking part in the war against Ukraine to vote in the presidential elections without even appearing at the polling stations.

Russia invented a new way to falsify Putin's pseudo-elections

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) reports that Russians plan to add to the number of "voters" who recently died, went missing or were captured.

This makes it much easier for "election commissions" to falsify the results. According to the latest instructions of the main military-political department of the Russian MOD, the criteria for the identification of voters from among military personnel have been simplified to such an extent that there is no need for their physical participation in voting, the statement says.

The DIU noted that a passport or military ID is not required for identity verification. A photocopy of the documents is enough.

It is obvious that in this way the Russian "election commissions" will try to increase the number of Putin's voters, attracting "dead souls" to the "voting", the intelligence reported.

The DIU noted that, given the losses of Russian troops in Ukraine, "the number of those who will "support" Putin in this way may turn out to be quite significant."

What is known about the Russian presidential election

The presidential elections of the Russian Federation will be held over three days - from March 15 to 17, 2024.

In December, the Central Election Commission of Russia adopted a resolution on holding presidential elections in March 2024 in the occupied territories of Ukraine.

Russian dictator Vladimir Putin will be able to stay in power until at least 2030. Moreover, Kremlin press secretary Dmytry Peskov announced that Putin would be re-elected with 90% of the vote.

The Kremlin hopes that 30% of the residents of the temporarily occupied territories will voluntarily participate in the "elections" of the president of the Russian Federation.

The day before, the heads of the foreign affairs committees of 20 countries published a joint statement in which they rejected the legitimacy of the "elections" of the president of the Russian Federation held in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine. The joint statement was signed by the heads of committees from 20 countries — Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Luxembourg, the Czech Republic, Germany, Moldova, Poland, Israel, the USA, Ireland, Italy, Iceland, Romania, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Spain and Great Britain.

The US State Department also stated that the US doesn't and will never recognise the legitimacy or results of the fake elections in sovereign Ukraine, which are part of the presidential elections in Russia.
