On 16 December, the occupying army of Russia shelled the town of Kurakhove, the Donetsk region, three times with shrapnel shells. Local residents are called to evacuate.
The Russian army shelled Kurakhove three times
Three times a day, the occupiers shelled Kurakhove with artillery and self-propelled 220 mm multiple rocket launchers Uragan.
This was stated by the press secretary of the Donetsk regional prosecutor's office, Anastasia Medvedeva, and the head of the Kurakhove Military Administration, Roman Padun.
Thus, the Russians hit the city centre with fragmentation shells from multiple rocket launchers around 12:40. The shelling damaged the facades and windows of four apartment buildings, 8 private houses and shops.
A pre-trial investigation into the violation of the laws and customs of war (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) has been initiated.
According to Roman Padun, the shelling was carried out with high-explosive fragmentation shells from Uragan multiple rocket launchers. He noted that this was the third massive shelling of Kurakhove in a day. Prior to that, the Russian army fired on the town with cannon artillery. Then three high-rise buildings, a shopping pavilion were damaged, and one of the apartments in the high-rise building was seized.
Local residents were urged to evacuate Kurakhove.
What is known about the situation near Vuhledar
Military expert, pilot-instructor, reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Roman Svitan, told how active this section of the frontline may be in the near future and what the occupiers' plans are.
In the Volnova direction, the Russians now have the task of entering the rear of the Marinsky group. The occupiers cannot squeeze the Ukrainian troops out of Maryinka and move the front line away from Donetsk.
For several days in a row, serious artillery duels have been taking place in the Vuhledar sector. In this area, the Russians have recently been actively using 152mm shells and rockets against Grads. It is likely that either Chinese or North Korean ammunition has arrived in Russia.
The Russian occupiers try to advance from Vuhledar towards Kurakhove. However, Ukrainian troops stop this advance in a counter-battery battle, striking as far as Volnovakha.
At the moment, the Russian offensive has been suspended, but it will definitely continue. As soon as the occupiers re-form and receive a new batch of ammunition, they will move on.
