Over the past day, Ukrainian army repelled Russian attacks in 6 directions, 78 combat clashes took place. The defence forces destroyed 780 Russian soldiers, 21 tanks, and 24 artillery systems.
Losses of the Russians for January 17
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that during the past day, the Air Force of the Defence Forces struck:
concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment, in 7 areas,
1 control point each,
5 enemy anti-aircraft missile systems.
Also, one Kh-59 guided air missile was destroyed by the forces and means of air defence of Ukraine.
Missile forces hit 2 control points, 1 personnel concentration area, 3 radar stations, 2 anti-aircraft defence facilities, 2 artillery facilities and 2 enemy ammunition depots.
The situation in the south and east
In the Kupyan direction, the Defence Forces repelled 6 enemy attacks near Synkivka, Kharkiv region.
In Lymanskyi direction, Ukrainian soldiers repelled 13 attacks by occupiers in Terny, Yampolivka districts of Donetsk region and another 5 attacks near Makiivka, Bilohorivka, Luhansk region.
In the Bakhmut direction, our soldiers repelled 8 enemy attacks near Hryhorivka, Ivanivskyi, Klishchiivka, and Andriivka, Donetsk region.
In the Avdiivka direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled 13 enemy attacks in the areas of Novokalynovy, Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, and another 14 attacks near Severny, Pervomaisky, and Nevelsky, Donetsk region.
In the Maryinsky direction, the Defence Forces repelled 10 attacks in the districts of Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Maryinka, and Novomykhailivka, Donetsk region.
In the Shakhtarsky direction, our defenders repelled an enemy attack north of Novodonetsk, Donetsk region.
In the Kherson direction, the enemy carried out 6 unsuccessful assaults on the positions of our troops on the left bank of the Dnipro River.
