Iran has agreed to supply Russian Su-35 fighter jets, Mi-28 helicopters and training aircraft.

What planes will Iran receive from Russia

Deputy Minister of Defense Mehdi Farahi announced that the development of plans for delivering Su-35 fighter jets, Mi-28 attack helicopters and Yak-130 jet trainer aircraft to the combat units of the Iranian Armed Forces has been completed.

He said they will come to Iran's disposal, and the corresponding process is underway.

It is noted that Iran's air force has only a few dozen attack aircraft, including Russian and outdated American models acquired before 1979.

What is known about cooperation between Iran and the Kremlin

Iran and Russia have signed significant agreements in the military sphere. Tasnim informs that the Iranian Air Force received the first Russian-made Yak-130 training aircraft in September.

The Yak-130 is a subsonic two-seater jet trainer and light combat aircraft. It is supposed to help Iranian military pilots to be trained to fly new fighter jets, such as the Su-57.

In July, the US State Department announced that the military partnership between Russia and Iran is deepening.

A week ago, the United States expressed fears that Iran was preparing to provide Russia with advanced short-range ballistic missiles to wage war against Ukraine.
