What is known about the negotiations between Russia and Iran regarding ballistic missiles

The United States is concerned that Russian negotiations on the acquisition of short-range ballistic missiles in Iran are actively advancing, one of the American officials told the journalists of the publication.

According to the publication's sources, the first Iranian short-range ballistic missiles may be sent to Russia this spring.

However, American officials think Moscow and Tehran have not yet agreed.

In particular, the interlocutors of the publication note that the Kremlin was particularly eager to purchase Iranian missiles in mid-December last year when a Russian delegation visited the Iranian test site to get acquainted with the missiles and related equipment.

The missiles of the Russian delegation were presented by the Air and Space Forces of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

This includes short-range Ababil missiles.

The visit took place after the arrival of the Russian Minister of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, at the headquarters of the IRGC Air Force, located in Tehran. During the visit, he inspected the exhibition of Ababil missiles and other missile systems.

In particular, Shoigu met with the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Iran, Mohammad Bagheri, and announced the development of Russian-Iranian relations.

American officials note that Iranian ballistic missiles will be an addition to the criminal army of the Russian Federation, which already receives rocket launchers and several dozen different types of cruise missiles from North Korea of various ranges.
